If your remote doesn't work, there are some troubleshooting steps we can do to try to jump start it into operation.
This test assumes that you have a smartphone or tablet with a front-facing camera. For all Apple devices (iPhone and iPad), the front camera is required.
Open the Camera app on your smartphone or tablet and set the front-facing camera as active. When looking at the screen, you should be able to see yourself like a mirror
Point your remote control at your phone's camera and press any of the labeled buttons. You should be able to see a light coming from the end with the LEDs
Remote Reboot & Resync
Unplug your unit from power and remove the batteries from the back of your remote (you won't need them again until step 4)
Press and release each and every button on the remote, one at a time, until you've pressed every button at least once
If your remote has slides or switches, move them to each position and repeat step 2 (ex.: a slide that has TV and DVD would require you to press the buttons twice; once in TV mode, and once in DVD mode). Once you're done you can move the switch back to it's normal mode
Reinstall the batteries and plug your unit back into power
If your remote still doesn't work after performing both of the above troubleshooting guides, we can look into processing an exchange or a return, but bare in mind that this typically means the sensor in your television is malfunctioning and is in need of service repair or replacement.
We keep it simple at Remotes.net. If you're not happy with your remote control, we'll either replace the remote or refund the purchase price for up to 90 days from date of purchase. To request a refund, send us an email to get in touch with a member of our staff at email@example.com.
When processing a return or exchange, we'll need the following basic information regarding your order:
- Your billing name, first and last - The email address you used when ordering - Optionally and preferably, your order number
Please note: If the issue was not the fault of Remotes.net (e.x.: we shipped you the correct remote, but the remote is not compatible with the unit), the customer is at liberty for any return shipping charges which are not covered under the 90-day money back guarantee.
All our remotes are custom built replacements to their originals, and therefor operate in the same fashion as the original remote did (with some exceptions, see below). Please consult your unit's owner's manual for instructions on using your remote.
Our remotes come programmed for the original device only, so if you had a remote that could work multiple stations (a TV, Blu-ray player, cable box, etc.), your purchased remote will only work on the main unit itself. An excellent example are receiver remotes which can often be programmed to operate a TV as well. Our replacement remote will work the receiver functions, but will not work with the TV as they contain different programming.
